You Needn’t Be Scared of Changing Your Vocation
Thursday 18 February 2010 @ 4:44 am

With moves in occupation careers being pretty regular these days, but the contemporary economic climate breeding fear, rumours are rife about the pros and cons towards changing a career. Actually, most people haven’t got a clue about changing careers and are too frightened too, therefore a lot of what is spoken on this subject isn’t experience based and is mainly nonsense.

I’ve created a set of advice posts on these blogs to explain what is really going on with the whole issue of vocational alterations. Hopefully by using this post and other articles that I have written for you, you will find yourself better prepared and able to tackle your next interview more strategically.Let’s start by tackling some of the career myths that you might have heard of.

  1. Career Myth: Always have a back-up plan

Sometimes having a back-up plan is the smart and prudent course of action. Back-up plans are so grown-up and responsible. But what happens when you’re standing with one foot in and one foot out? In my experience, we usually close the door and retreat. We are reluctant to commit to ourselves, and we end up denying ourselves the satisfaction of playing full-out, getting dirty and sweaty. We end up with feelings of regret and the nagging “What if?” question.

  2. Career Myth: Everyone needs a mission statement

Do you know what your mission is? Mission statements are supposed to guide us, keep us on track, and help us move forward. But what if you don’t have one? Does that mean you’re destined to never fulfill your potential career-wise?

A client who was a successful professional contacted me because she was at a career crossroads. She felt that if only she could find her mission in life, she would know which career path to take.

She had a clear goal for coaching - find her mission! Instead, the most amazing thing happened. She decided that she didn’t need a mission. She chose to trust that she was already fulfilling her mission statement, even though she didn’t know what it was. After the client shifted her focus from finding her mission to living her life, an amazing opportunity came her way and she pursued it.

Here’s a little tip: If your mission statement is elusive, stop chasing it. Be still and let it find you. And in the meantime, keep living your life and see what happens.

You can get even more sensible career help for your medical interview by searching by going online for decent interview teaching websites. Then make use of your good sense

My Hair Loss Story
Sunday 23 August 2009 @ 11:53 pm

My hair loss treatment journey begun the day I started to notice my thinning hair and my bald spot becoming bigger. The most apparent thing to do was to seek ways to comb my hair to conceal my bald spot. I started wearing more hats on the weekends as I went out with my wife, friends or family. Walking in to work every morning was a painful experience without my hat on. You change the way you think when you are going through hair loss. It is so true that you never know what you have until you lose it. That can be true about your hair loss.

As I looked in the mirror I began to treasure every one of the hair strands I had left. It was as if with each string of hair I lost, so was a small percent of my self-confidence gone as well. A friend of mine had been having the same problem as me. I noticed lately that he seemed so much more relaxed and it appears as though his hair was growing back. I never wanted to bring it up but after a while I decided to ask. It was then that he told me about Advanced Hair Studio. My friend Josh told me that he had only had a few treatments and has already started to see some results, he not only regained his hair, but his self-confidence as well. I was determined to give Advanced Hair a try as after all I had a lot to lose, meaning my hair and self-confidence.

At first, I was a little sceptical. But within a few weeks the effects were evident. Not only on my head, but in my behavior. I began to lose the caps on the weekends and I quickly started to feel better about myself. My wife has also noticed a change in my day to day behavior as well. It is amazing how just a few visits to the Advanced Hair Studio had begun to change my life as a whole. I have constantly been wary about people noticing my bald spot. Now, I am not terrified to look people in the eyes again as I have my full set of hair back.

Advance Hair Studio has not only given me back my hair, but a big chunk of my life as well. If you are suffering from hair loss I highly recommend them as it has done so much for me in just a few months of treatments. Don’t let your confidence continue to be lost with your hair.

Strategies to Build up Your Displays for Your Consultant Interviews
Monday 20 July 2009 @ 4:23 am

KISS: Keep it short and simple

A few essential ideas that are substantially explained will come across more intelligibly than a lot of text planned to impress the audience. Your interviewers do not have the time to analyse the information as you present it.

The rule of three

Most individuals cannot recollect more than 3 things at one time. Many memorable quotes come in 3 parts: Veni, Vedi, Vici, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Education, Education, Education,
Ready, Steady, Go, etc.

If possible, organize your presentation in three bigprincipalcentralfundamental themes (one per slide). On each slide, tryseekendeavorendeavourattempt to focuscentercentre on three3 keycentralprincipalimportantessentialfundamentalbigprimarymain ideas. If you have too many pointsaimsitemsdetails on one page, you may want to breakchunk them down in two2 different more focussedcentredconcentratedcenteredfocused themestopicsideasstemsstreamsconcepts to break upseparatesplit upfragmentbreak downsplit up the messagecontentsubject mattersubstance ininto more digestible chunks

Rule of three3 applied to a presentation on the critical appraisal of your career so far:

THEME 1 - Presentation of Experience
Career progression & Exams taken;
Important skills and expertise acquired;
Involvement in academic activities.

THEME 2 - Demonstration of commitment to speciality and self development
Cours es and conferences attended;
Special interests developed;
Initiative taken in developing services and improving standards.

THEME 3 - Areas where further development is needed
Great emphasis on teaching; want to enhance research portfolio;
Keen to enhance further teaching experience (Med Ed. Degree);
Solid experience of endoscopy; further training required for possible
subspecialisation.

Visual aids

In mostwell-nigh allnearly allvirtually allalmost all interviews, the nature of the visual aids will be imposed. This could include:

No visual aids at all
A4 white paper sheets
Acetates
Electronic (e.g. on USB chip or CD Rom)

Identify the requirements before you start as it may dictate the manner in which you organise your ideas.

EnsureDetermineAscertainCheckVerifySuss Out too that you have sufficientadequatedecentenough back-up. For example:

if they asked for paper presentation slides, bring a copy for eacheveryevery last interviewerinterview panel member (they might say that they will photocopy them for you but the machine might break downfailcrumplesnuff itconkkick the bucket that day!) if they ask for a USB chip, bring two chips (and possibly even a CD version) whatever they ask, always bring a few paper versions in casejust in case everything has gone wrongbaddefectivefaulty, or in casejust in case they deliberatelyintentionallypurposelyby designby choiceon purposedesignedly make your life difficult.

Synthetic Wigs for an Delightful Attitude Adjustment
Sunday 12 July 2009 @ 12:45 pm

Most never imagined the incredible Chandra Sinclair, my youthful partner in crime, would wear medical wigs. Her voluminous hair styles added so much to her mystique. Get this. Miss Prim n’ Proper is still the center of attention because of her trademark toss ‘n turn. Very few even care that she compensates for medical hair loss with lace wigs. They work well.

As mere children in the hill country, we once stole the spotlights to every dance. A few years went by before her medical hair loss kicked in and her hair thinned spottily. I did hint at these lace wigs. Whatever, she shrugged it off. Undeterred by her hair loss, she proudly never let you forget about her attitude.

Obliged to show at our university’s golf competition, we heckled until a guy on other team purposefully kicked the puck (or however you say it) at the crowd. She dove for the ball when her cute little hat fell off, uncovering her thinning hair. No big deal, she hurled the thing with a tremendous heave to the game official. Attitude, did I mention she’s got it?

Of course, everyone has insecurities. One time we got together for a game of bridge, the day she laughed nervously and told me that she would rather make do with a shorn head out of anger. She would never look at medical wigs, though she wanted her hair back. And who would have thought the punk stopped talking and begged that I drop it. So I did.

There was no way to get her words out of my head. That night, I called about settling the wig issue. Finally we both ended up with the obvious conclusion: we were going wig shopping! We have a knack for making online wig shopping fun.

Not sure who was more bewildered by the options. I didn’t realize that wigs could be so natural for beautiful people and famous actors. These women’s wigs were marvelous. I put together a delightfully modern ensemble around our wigs. We do it all together, if you haven’t heard. Last Christmas she thanked me for the wig, and confessed it invites a new attitude for many occasions. It’s delightful to see little miss attitude live a happier existence. She’s a better person, with the same confidence.

Writing the Perfect Resume
Tuesday 7 July 2009 @ 9:51 am

A resume introduces a applicant to the prospective employer. It creates the first impression on the potential employer on the candidate’s accomplishments, qualification, certifications and work experience. Therefore, a professionally well-written and well-organised curriculum vitae can often aid in securing an interview with the potential employer.

While developing a resume, the focus must be on the requirements of the firm and your capacity to fit in the role put up. The curriculum vitae should be put together by combining the candidate’s skill sets and experience with the needs of the company. It is writing about how you can satisfy the demands of the elaborate role in the firm.

There are some misconceptions about resume writing that needs to be cleared up. Trying to stand out among the crowd by making the resume prominent will not serve the purpose. The curriculum vitae should not be something unusual, unique or tricky. However, if the facts are coordinated in a professional manner, showcasing particulars applicable to the occupation’s necessities, it will definitely impress the recruitment agency to invite the applicant for an initial interview.

The all-important objective of a curriculum vitae is to introduce the applicant and present the skill sets, qualification, experience and credentials of the individual so that the HR manager is impressed enough to call them for an interview. The CV should only contain information, which is applicable to company’s requirements. This may include the experience of the candidate, which is advantageous for the role. Avoid composing a long history of your past job experiences.

A good, well-structured curriculum vitae is the key to opening the right doors to the perfect chance in the job seeking process.

My Story: Searching for Dating Services in North Dallas
Friday 19 June 2009 @ 10:58 am

Usually, I ignore my emotions, ’cause I didn’t always have Great Expectations for my dating life. Here’s the scoup, merely hours ago I devoured what seemed like a pound of bacon. As a coping mechanism of datelessness, no less. That actually happened. What does this mean? Well, that’s the moment when I initially looked into finding a date in North Dallas.

No problem. Figured I’d boost my dating life at Great Expectations Denver. Definitely turned out to be my golden ticket. Here’s a story. When I was a little tipsy at my boy’s t-ball game in Denver two weeks ago, Richard asked me if I’ve found my true love. They always bring this up, every year. I didn’t want to answer, but then laughed, “that’s none of your business.”

No surprise that The Old Tooter (aka: grandpa) opining along the lines of my companionship situation. I quipped to the family gang: “I’ll be fine, my romantic destiny is right over there!”

You know what? Each one of them scoffed. Perturbed, I went to the gym in hopes this loneliness would all go away. What a waste of time! I can’t imagine what I was thinking there. Nina, who was just deployed on military commission recommended that I mingle at singles events by Great Expectations. I said, “That’s what I was going to do.” Should have thought of it myself. I will never regret joining this Dallas dating service.

Early on, dating events were kinda foreign from my perspective. I was a bit nervous at first, and I was speechless at first. My slip up could not pull the plug on another incredible Great Expectations event. The evening was a limo pub crawl from heaven. The truth is I’ll never forget all the attractive, single women.

Appearing at these glorious Denver Singles Events and parties at Great Expectations, I bumped into some great people who I could tell feel the same way I do for how dating should be done. Now I can stop letting anyone get me down about me not dating. Wonderfully enough, matchmaking with Great Expectations is a good time and a remarkably refreshing dating experience.

A Stand-Up Woman: Any Human Hair Wig Is Not Just a Fashion Crutch
Wednesday 3 June 2009 @ 5:44 am

Comparing wigs off the rack could fall short of a delightful spending spree. Take it from me, I’m a classy professional tolerating the tough luck of medical hair loss. I hold pride because I discreetly and naturally enhance my look with several favorite lace wigs that I value dearly. I can assure you, it won’t take long to discover your hidden confidence in the comfort and style quality lace front wigs. I’ve seem them do wonders for millions of celebrities in need.

There’s a good chance you have expressed the same fears that brought tears to my eyes. “Do wigs ever look real?” and “Will my scalp breathe underneath it?” were my most important worries, for sure. These early worries can be troublesome if you take the time to relax and understand how many fantastic fitting choices are available. Wigs for womens hair loss made from human hair, grant their wearers in every business with confidence. Its not anything to stress on! Never seen a well done wig? Simply ’cause people never even know it from a person’s actual hair.

I’ll offer a few wig selection considerations a woman may know. Hands down the truly natural wigs are lace front. Human hair wigs are about three times more valuable when up against fake wigs–for many reasons. They can be three times better looking! I strongly endorse them. However, if its just too much for the pocketbook, imitation wigs are not a bad option at all and worth of your consideration.

I opt for the natural human hair wigs for the following characteristics. They last longer and its easier to change and style on a daily basis. Oh yeah, and my children are more comfortable with it.

It’s your call, but do some research to find a full bodied hair piece which compliments your look, so you will feel confident in it. Feel better about your appearance, and even better, feel natural wearing it. No different than with any fashion decision, your choice of wig enhances your individuality.

Sincerely,

Chandra Jonston

Internet Business: 10 Important Creative Ways To Get New Product Ideas
Wednesday 28 May 2008 @ 10:06 pm

Creativity is one of the most important keys to
success in any business.

If you want to succeed in any business, you have to be
more creative and pragmatic.

Below are a few internet business tips on how to generate
new product ideas:

1. Solve an existing problem for people. There are
thousands of problems in the world. Create a product
that can provide a solution to one of those problems.

2. Find out what’s the current hot trend. You can find
out what the new trends are by watching T.V, reading
magazines and surfing the net. Just create a product
that’s related to the current hot trend.

3. Improve a product that is already on the market.
You see products at home, in ads, at stores etc. Just
take a product that’s already out there and improve it.

4. Create a new niche for a current product. You can
set yourself apart from your competition by creating a
niche. Your product could be faster, bigger, smaller,
or quicker than you competitor’s product.

5. Add on to an existing product. You could package
your current product with other related products. For
example, you could package a football with a team
jersey and football cards.

6. Reincarnate an older product. Maybe you have a
book that’s out of print and is no longer being sold.
You could change the title, design a new front cover,
and bring some of the old content up to date.

7. Ask your current customers. You could contact
some of your existing customers by phone or e-mail
and ask them what kind of new products they would
like to see on the market.

8. Combine two or more products together to create
a new one. For example, you could take a brief case
and add a thermos compartment inside to keep a
drink hot or cold.

9. Survey the people who visit your web site. You
could post a survey or questionnaire on your web site.
Ask visitors what kind of products they would like to
see on the market.

10. You could create a new market for your existing
product. For example, if you’re selling plastic bottles
to a pop company, you could turn around and sell
those bottles to a fruit drink company.

May these internet business tips help you to
make a lot of money.

Warmly,

Creativity Management - Working From Real Life
Monday 19 May 2008 @ 11:07 am

Creativity can be defined as problem identification and idea generation whilst innovation can be defined as idea selection, development and commercialisation.

There are other useful definitions in this field, for example, creativity can be defined as consisting of a number of ideas, a number of diverse ideas and a number of novel ideas.

There are distinct processes that enhance problem identification and idea generation and, similarly, distinct processes that enhance idea selection, development and commercialisation. Whilst there is no sure fire route to commercial success, these processes improve the probability that good ideas will be generated and selected and that investment in developing and commercialising those ideas will not be wasted.

Working from real life

There are a number of reasons why working from real life generates better ideas than fiction or mental invention. Supporting arguments include:

a) Mental invention is one of the least successful idea types. Random event with previous knowledge, solution spotting and need spotting are far more successful.

b) The best ideas come from those people who have the most tacit knowledge - those that have had a life long interest in many subjects.

c) Truffaut said that his ideas derive 20% autobiography, 20% from newspapers, 20% from interpersonal interaction, 20% from fiction.

d) The best ideas derive from intellectual cross-pollination, networks and collaboration.

e) Though idea generation is a cognitive activity, you cannot separate the idea from its influences.

These and other topics are covered in depth in the MBA dissertation on Managing Creativity & Innovation, which can be purchased (along with a Creativity and Innovation DIY Audit, Good Idea Generator Software and Power Point Presentation) from http://www.managing-creativity.com/

Are you Lonely in this Crowd?
Saturday 17 May 2008 @ 11:55 pm

This world is a crowd. We all live in a crowd. Our family, our friends, our business associates, our co workers, and our community. All these form a crowd for us not in the dictionary sense, but let us say that we are always getting connected with someone, somewhere and are not living on an island alone. Even then, many of us feel lonely. Are you one of them?

Being lonely means - I am not able to share my deepest thoughts with anyone. I have issues at home. I have issues at my office. I have issues with my relatives. I have issues with my friends. I am carrying so much of hurt and guilt inside me. I want to do many things, and at times, I need help. I don’t know ,who to ask? I feel lonely. I feel all alone. I feel that no one understands me. Despite all my trials, I fail to share and convey my feelings. If I talk about my office issues with my wife/husband or my girl/boyfriend, I am not able to get any good advise. They all have their suggestions and analysis of my situation, but that differs greatly from what I believe to be true. Therefore, I shut up after talking for awhile with them.

I have friends with whom I try to talk about my problems. But they want to tell me theirs first. What is taken quite seriously by me, is considered ordinary by others. What do I do? Shall I consult a psychiatrist? How will that help? My character, and my thinking. Is something wrong with them? Who will tell me? Who will guide? I feel very disturbed at all the times. I want peace in my mind. I go out to walk alone, but my thoughts don’t leave me anywhere. This agitation of my mind is becoming intolerable. I feel lonely. I want to talk with someone who will understand my point of view and tell me what to do?

Are you one of such people? Do you feel lonely? Do you also feel that you have no one to share your deepest thoughts? Have you started feeling that everyone is selfish? No one has got time for you? No one wants to understand you? No one cares for you?

What can you do in such a situation? You may be feeling helpless, but something ought to be done. The first step in such agitation should be to avoid thinking for sometime during a day. Involve yourself in some such activity that takes your mind away from itself. Any activity that will engross you completely. A good movie, a good novel, some magazines, a show, any activity that takes the mind away will give some peace. The next step would be to find out if anyone you know, is also facing such a state? How does one do that? For this you will have to shift your attention from yourself to others. Begin listening to others. Ask them about their problems and listen. You may probably find that there are few others who are also in the same boat. Even if you are not religious, try to talk to god. Tell him about what all goes on in your life and your mind. Ask him to help you.

One who feels lonely in the crowd of people, must first raise his/her self esteem. You must say - OK. Other than god, no one will understand what I am facing. That is OK. I will set some exciting goals for myself. I will try to achieve them. For me, my life is very important. I will live my life in such a way that I feel proud of it. I am a good person and I know that. I don’t honestly care if others are not understanding me. I will try to understand their problems and help them. Rather than asking for help, let me start giving.
