Home Cutsom Theaters
Friday 8 October 2010 @ 9:03 pm

For many families, the television has become the focal point in the family room or home theater room. This usually means the TV takes up a huge amount of space and is what much of the furniture and lighting is designed around. But that looks a bit unnatural when the TV is turned off.

There are a number of different ways to hide a flat panel TV while it is not being used by integrating the feature into the overall home theater room design. Several use a static image to display a piece of art or favorite family picture. Others use complex mounting units and screens to cover the TV when it is not being used. A professionally designed theater system can integrate any concept you have to make the room stunning both when in use as well as when not.

Below are several display options offered for home owners as they decide how they want their flat panel TV to be hidden when not in use.

Screensaver Displays

Considering many LCD TVs are simple displays like those used by computer users, they can be prearranged to display art and photos when they are not in use. Using a screensaver unfortunately, requires the TV to be on so it is not recommended for long periods of time. It is best for use during entertaini parties.

Custom made Art Covers

Custom art overlay options are becoming more common. A specific art peice can be made to be fitted over the screen when homeowners are not using the TV. This is an inexpensive solution that does not require any new wiring or customized mounting.

Many homeowners wish to hang their flat panel TVs above the fireplace. For a traditional use, a wooden frame can be installed around it, as a result turning your television into a mantel piece. Professional installers can also design an automated system that slides a screen cover over the flat panel.

Other Considerations

Most home theaters don’t incorperate the TV alone. Mounted televisions are more difficult to incorporate into an entertainment system due to the fact that all the crucial connections need to be run through walls. Wireless technology for these applications is improving but is not yet dependable.

Custom home theater installers can offer advice on the best way to arrange DVD players and receivers to match the ingenious look of a hidden flat panel television.

Choosing the appropriate option to hide a LCD TV into a room’s design can be tough. The size and shape of walls or the way they are built can limit your installation options. Place the television in the appropriate spot for viewing, and then start taking into account installation options.

Online DVD Movie Clubs! Where Entertainment And Convenience Come Together
Thursday 10 April 2008 @ 2:30 am

Like one big happy family, online DVD Movie Clubs have become a popular choice among families and individuals that are searching for movie rentals with the online services and convenience! Not only do they offer convenient special features, but also their value and additional benefits are far more valuable over renting at your local movie store!

For many of you that still rent at local video stores, it may be a little transition for you to join a DVD Club, and it will take a bit of getting used to having your movie and games arrive via your mail box several days later after your initial order. However, once your movies and game choices arrive, there will be an excitement that will come over you because most, if not all, people love to receive packages in their mail.

It’s fun, and all your title choices and top releases you picked online will be ready to watch and enjoy when they arrive at your door. The best thing about being part of a movie rental club is that you don’t have to worry about sending them back right away, and you’ll never experience late fees again!

I know it’s spring, and soon it will be summer, but winter is never too far away, and when the downpour of rain or the blizzards of snow arrive, and it becomes really cold and dark out, you will truly be relieved knowing you don’t have to jump in a cold car, and drive all the way to your video store to return your videos, especially the ones you haven’t finished watching yet.

What Are The Benefits Of Renting Movies and Video Games Online?

For many years we had only one choice, and that was to rent from the local Blockbuster, or the independent store that smelled like mothballs and old attics. If you didn’t live close to the bigger rental stores, you were limited to what they had available when you finally arrived.

With unlimited rentals online available through your choice of club store, you can easily have access to thousands of releases, downloads, and DVD reviews that will help you decide on whether the movie you want to rent is going to be the one you really desire to watch. Nothing is more annoying than getting a movie or game home to find out it was truly a complete flop!

There are many times your movie club will offer you periodic club offers and specials, and how often do you get that from your local rental store? If they happen to offer you any deal, it’s because they know they’re about to lose you to the online competitors.

When you do the actual comparison of online rental clubs versus your local video outlets, the smart choice is taking advantage of the online rental services the movie entertainment stores provide. Online renting is growing dramatically, and more people are experiencing the value and the overall convenience they offer.

You can still support your local movie store for quick last minute movie decisions, but when it comes to getting exactly what you want in title selections, and the fact that you don’t have to ever worry about sending them back late with a penalty, those are features that are going to please many video enthusiasts for many years to come!

Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (DVD) Review
Tuesday 1 April 2008 @ 11:30 pm

Nominated for 19 Emmys and 5 Golden Globes, including Best TV Series - Drama, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman experienced the rare double victory of audience loyalty and widespread critical acclaim. Premiering in mid-season (January 1993), the hour-long CBS original series illustrated American frontier life like few other shows before it. Like the smash hit Little House On The Prairie, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman vividly portrays the hardship, struggle, and community kinship endemic to the era. One of the first Western-themed shows to cast a female doctor (as the star of the show nonetheless), Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman enjoyed a successful five-year run, marked by two highly-touted made-for-TV movies…

Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman follows the exploits of Dr. Michaela “Mike” Quinn, a female doctor living in 19th Century America when that sort of thing was unheard of. Working for years as an assistant in her father’s New England medical practice, the death of her father prompts Dr. Mike to answer a want ad for a doctor in the thriving American frontier town of Colorado Springs. When she arrives, the town is taken aback, having expected she was a man. But Dr. Mike quickly endears herself with the townsfolk and expands her family by adopting three orphan children - Matthew (Chad Allen), Colleen (Erika Flores/Jessica Bowman), and Brian (Shawn Toovey). As the show progresses, she eventually marries local Byron Sully (Joe Lando), and the final seasons focus on the lives of their nuclear family. Sporting an assorted cast of loveable, and sometimes eccentric, characters, the town is never short of excitement or drama…

The Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman DVD features a number of dramatic episodes including the series premiere in which the audience learns the saga of Dr. Michaela Quinn, a female doctor who loses her medical practice along with death of her father (in whose footsteps she followed). The lack of job opportunities prompts her to leave her Boston home to answer a job posting in the Colorado territory. Once there, she befriends Charlotte Cooper, who soon dies from a rattle snake bite, leaving her three children in Dr. Mike’s care… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “Running Ghost” in which Sully is left partially paralyzed following a run-in with buffalo hunters hired to clear a path for a new railroad line, and “Portraits” in which the entire town must pull together in an effort to take a picture of the town so that it can be seen by David Watkins, a diabetic Civil War photographer, before he goes blind…
