Gaming Portables To Turn Ultra Mobile And Sexy
Saturday 28 June 2008 @ 10:29 pm

Do we all really need a laptop? It sure seems that way because demand is sky high. I just scared that like last year we will have issues getting our hands on the newest technology too. Many have forcasted laptops to be popular but its phenomenal that theres been no dip in sales. The technology is evolving in all directions at once as well.

More people are buying laptops for gaming these days. I think gaming laptops have never been cheaper. You can find some really good deals out there that will get you gaming. For those who need portability, the power laptops offer in relation to gaming shouldn’t be frowned upon much longer as performance is better. Power to one side, also worth a mention is the revolutionary slim chassis designs we are seeing these days. Despite that power has greatly improved and the designs are thin, honestly power will and should forever trail behind desktop computers. Could gaming laptops ever turn extremely slim? I think this is a market to survey.

For the niche people using laptops. The notion of obtaining after market components appeals to some consumers in my opinion. In my mind being able to choose the cpu, memory and hard drive is best catered for the more demanding users out there. The vast number of laptops are spec for the modest consumer which means you may not find what you’re looking for. Mass customisation of notebook compputers has got over this dilemma. There’s tons of system builders providing custom laptops, with outstanding customer support. Yet an additional great factor.

I think tons of consumers are awiting the next range of laptop computers. Except from what has previously been mentioned UMPC’s are a further massive niche seeing an increase this year. The Eee PC just created a new sub market. Giant lcd and super light, that is what consumers should fancy. I’m sure that companies already have their plans made up. I am wondering how soon before we encounter gaming ultra mobiles. Notebook computers come out every few months and these umpc’s surely made a lot of companies change their ideas.

I’d recommend these cheap gaming laptops.

Analyzing One-Way Vs. Reciprocal Links
Saturday 28 June 2008 @ 11:06 am

Link building has become a cornerstone of SEO/SEM services so many are interested in knowing what makes a good link, what they should strive for, etc. that will provide the biggest impact on their site optimization.

I was recently asked the following:

“These days, I’ve heard alot about one-way links being better than reciprocal and worth more in respect to pr rankings. If possible, could you please offer me some insight on reciprocal vs. one way links.”

Here was my response:

“We certainly believe that one-way links are better than reciprocal links, but not to the extent that many others assume. You hear a lot of talk about reciprocal links being dead and for a while we believed this is the direction the search engines were going, but the more research we did the more we believe this NOT the case.

“The factors that we look at as being the most important are link relevance and quality. If these issues are in line then it’s not going to matter if it’s a one-way link or a reciprocal link… just a valuable link.”

Search engines certainly want to get a handle on link manipulation but there are many more effective ways of doing so. In fact, many believe the most recent Google algorithm change is the implementation of how links are viewed, and it has nothing to do with one-way vs. reciprocal links.

When analyzing links, determining if a link is reciprocated is not an entirely effective way to gage the users intent. Many sites link back and forth to each other simply because it makes good business sense to do so. If all reciprocal links are devalued search engines are essentially shutting out legitimate links simply by assuming that the intent was ill-formed.

Yes, a large portion of reciprocal links are simply SEOs and site owners manipulating the system, but that in itself isn’t necessarily bad. After all, Google claims to have spidered over 8 billion pages. I’m sure its the grand link building campaigns and site cross-linking that has allowed them to find a few of those billion. The bottom line is that just because a link is reciprocated does not mean that it’s an illegitimate relationship.

Search engines can determine link quality by a number of other measures:

  • Comparing themes of the link source and link destination pages
  • Placement of links on the page (i.e. is it in body content, ad section, navigation area, etc.)
  • Relatedness of the two linked sites (are they in compatible industries?)

These three measures alone will provide a far greater measure of the quality of a link than looking at whether a link is reciprocated or not.

In regards to links, and SEO in general, I don’t believe it makes much sense for search engines to look for ways to penalize those who are manipulating the system to their advantage, but rather to make sure that those manipulations work to provide higher-quality search results.

Wedding Party Duties: Your Bridesmaids and Attendants Responsibilities
Thursday 26 June 2008 @ 5:31 pm

The wedding party plays a huge role in every aspect of the wedding planning process, so choose wisely, these friends will be with you for the long haul. The wedding attendants have various roles, and it is important that they are aware of their responsibilities early on. Below I have listed some helpful
tips for the key players in your wedding party Here is what you and your groom can expect from your bridal party…

For the Ladies
Your most important bridesmaid is your maid of honor (matron of honor, if she is already married). Her main jobs include signing the marriage license as a witness and being your right hand man in planning the wedding. Before the wedding, it is her responsibility to make sure that the other bridesmaids are
informed of the plans and staying on top of their tasks, coordinate dress fittings, and plan the bridal showers and bachelorette party. During the wedding, it is the maid of honor’s job to help you dress, straighten your train during the reception, and hold your bouquet during the ceremony. To help lighten the load, you may consider having both a maid and a matron of honor, so that they can split responsibilities. Depending on the maid of honor’s comfort level, they may join the best man in the toast at the reception.

Maid of Honor Check List

Before the wedding…

  • Ask if help is needed for preliminary planning: invitations, location, dresses, registry, etc…

  • Order the dresses for you and the bridesmaids

  • Aid with the seating arrangements

  • Plan the bridal showers: make sure to ask for a lot of input from both the bride and the mothers involved

  • Plan the bachelorette party

  • Keep the bridesmaids up to date and involved

  • Help out with the rehearsal dinner

Wedding day…

  • #1 DUTY- keep the bride as stress free as possible- if a problem arises try to take of it yourself before bringing it to the bride

  • Make sure that the bride is awake on time and organized for the day

  • Help with dressing and makeup

  • Make sure that the bride has time to herself when needed

  • Don’t forget the groom’s ring

  • Sign the marriage license

  • Keep the bride put together: straighten her train, adjust her veil, touch up makeup, etc…

  • Go with her to the bathroom with her throughout the reception to help with the dress

  • Make a speech

  • Help the bride prepare for her departure from the reception

  • Along with the best man, bring all of the wedding gifts to the new couple’s home

The bridesmaids are responsible for various tasks throughout the wedding and the planning process as well. It is up to you to speak up if you want or need help with something. Some of the basic tasks that the wedding party will perform are addressing invitations, proofreading the ceremony programs, and tying ribbons unto favors. They are there for emotional support, and will help in planning the bachelorette and shower parties. At the reception, you will be seated at the head table with the entire wedding party. Brides, remember that the bridal party
is spending a lot of time and money on your special day, so be considerate of what you are asking from them. The wedding party is responsible for buying their own attire, accessories, shoes, as well as contributing to both the bachelorette and shower parties.

Bridesmaid’s Check List

Before the wedding…

  • Make yourself available- the bride may need you for simple tasks or just a shoulder to lean on

  • Help make favors and place cards

  • Help address invitations

  • Assist the maid of honor in planning the bridal shower and bachelorette party

Wedding day…

  • Help keep the flower girl and ring bearer organized and under control

  • Assist in keeping the bride calm and organized

Gentlemen Next

The most important groomsman and the one with the most responsibility is the best man. Just as the maid of honor does, the best man is responsible for signing the marriage license. Some of the main aspects of the wedding process that the best man is responsible for are organizing the the groomsmen (a.k.a.
ushers), assisting in the planning of formal wear fittings, organizing the famous bachelor party, and giving the first toast at the reception.

Best Man Check List

Before the wedding…

  • Assist in selecting formal wear

  • Organize fittings for the groomsmen

  • Plan the bachelor party

  • Make yourself available to the groom

During the wedding…

  • Make sure the groom is awake and organized for the day

  • Organize the ushers

  • Help keep the groom calm; especially right before the ceremony

  • Hold onto the rings

  • Sign the marriage license

  • Hold the officiant’s fee (paid by the groom) until after the ceremony

  • Give the first toast at the reception

The groomsmen should be available to assist the groom and the best man with whatever is needed. They must pay for their own attire and be present at the formalwear fittings. It is important that the formalwear is picked up on time and returned in a timely manner. Before the ceremony, the groomsmen will help
seat the guests, and should plan on arriving to the ceremony early. Make sure that any specific seating arrangements are known before the wedding. During the reception, you will sit at the head table with the wedding party.

Before the wedding…

  • Be present at the formalwear fittings

  • Help plan and pay for the stag party

  • Pick up formalwear on time

During the wedding…

  • Seat guests in their appropriate spots

  • Roll out the white carpet before the bride enters

  • After the reception, help load gifts into cars

  • Don’t forget to return your formalwear on time

And for You

  • Be grateful for the time and financial obligations that your wedding party is committing to in order to help you with your special days. Be conscience of the financial limitations of your wedding party.

  • Let them help you out. Your wedding party was chosen because you consider them an important part of your life. If you need help ask for it, they will be happy you did.

  • Remember to be flexible. Don’t ignore the requests of the bridal party-if the girls don’t like their dresses, see if you can compromise on a different one.

  • Have fun- the more fun you are having the smoother things will run.

  • Take time for yourselves- it would be a good idea to spend a weekend away the month of the wedding, and promise to not discuss the wedding at all.

How To Weight Train For Maximum Muscle Gain
Wednesday 25 June 2008 @ 7:59 pm

Weight training involves the use of equipment that enables variable resistance. This resistance can come in the form of “free weights” like barbells and dumbbells, machines that use cables or pulleys to help you lift the weight and bodyweight exercises like pull-ups or dips.

Free Weights vs. Machines vs. Bodyweight Exercises

For maximum muscle gain, the focus of your workouts should consist of free weight exercises. Not machines or bodyweight exercises. This is not to say that you should not use machines or bodyweight exercises, but they should not be the focus of your training. To get an effective, muscle blasting workout, you must stimulate the most muscle fibers as possible, and machines do not do this.

The main reason for this is a lack of stabilizer and synergist muscle development. Stabilizer and synergist muscles are supporting muscles that assist the main muscle in performing a complex lift. The more stabilizers and synergists worked, the more muscle fibers stimulated. Multi-jointed free weight exercises like the bench press, require many stabilizer and synergistic muscle assistance to complete the lift. On the other hand doing a bench press using a machine will need almost no stabilizer assistance.

Since machines are locked into a specific range of motion and help to support the weight along that path, they fail to stimulate the muscles that surround the area you are working (stabilizers). This is a mistake. If your stabilizer muscles are weak, then the major muscle group will never grow!

Free weight exercises like the dumbbell press or squat, for example, put a very large amount of stress on supporting muscle groups. That’s why you will get fatigued faster and not be able to lift as much weight as you did on the machine. But you will gain more muscle, become stronger very quickly and have a true gauge of your strength.

If you use machines in your program, they should be used to work isolated areas and only after all multi-jointed exercises have been completed.

Beginners should begin with a limited combination of machine exercises, bodyweight exercises and mult-jointed free weight exercises. Before increasing the weight levels, they should work on becoming familiar with the proper form and execution of each. Soon, bodyweight exercises will become insufficient to stimulate growth and they will need to focus on more free weight exercises.

Multi-Jointed Exercises

The exercises that work the large muscle groups are called compound (or multi-joint) movements that involve the simultaneous stimuation of many muscle groups. These compound exercises should be the foundation of any weight training program because they stimulate the most amount of muscle in the least amount of time.

Here are the basic movements:

* Bench Presses (works the chest, shoulders, tricep)
* Overhead Presses (shoulders, tricep)
* Pull-ups/Barbell Rows (back, bicep)
* Squats (legs, lower back)
* Deadlifts (legs, back, shoulders)
* Bar Dips (shoulders, chest, arms)

I cannot overemphasize the importance of these exercises. Do not start an advanced weight training program without them!

They will overload your entire skeletal and muscular system like no machine could ever do, giving you and effective workout in a very short period of time. If you can only do a few exercises, then do these. They have been proven (and not just by me) to encourage muscle and strength gain unlike any other exercises.

Lift Heavy Weight

To build mass, you must weight train with heavy weights. By heavy, I mean a weight that is challenging for you — not me, or anyone else. To consider a weight heavy, you should only be able to do a maximum of 8-12 reps before your muscles temporarily fail. A weight is considered “light” if you can do more than 15 reps before muscle fatigue sets in.

Heavy weights stimulate more muscle fibers than lighter weights. It’s that simple. More muscle stimulation means more muscle growth.

Don’t Overtrain

Heavy weight training puts a huge strain on your body, so adequate rest and recuperation after your workouts is essential. If you are prone to train too often, several things happen:

You don’t give your muscles enough time to recuperate between workouts. If your muscles have not repaired themselves, you will not be at maximum strength for your next workout. Rest is essential. Other than eating, this should be your main focus.

You are setting yourself up for burnout or an injury. I know you are motivated and excited about working out, but don’t be careless. You must pace yourself, you want to be able to keep this up for a long time, not burnout before you reach your goals. I only weight train 3 times per week, that’s all. Anymore than that and I would not give my body enough time to repair and build new muscle.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not grow while working out, you only grow when you are resting.

Below is an example mass workout. I did 4 heavy sets for 4-8 reps each.

Wednesday (legs, abs)

* Heavy Squats, leg extension superset
* Seated Calve Raises, 4 strips sets
* Crunches (4 sets of 20)

——-

Friday (chest, shoulder, triceps, abs)

* Flat bench press, incline dumbbell flyes superset
* Shoulder press, side raises superset
* Tricep pushdowns
* Reverse incline leg raises (3 sets of 20)

——

Sunday (back, biceps, abs)

* Wide grip pull-ups, latbar pulldown superset
* EZ bar bicep curl, incline dumbbell curls superset
* Crunches (4 sets of 20)

Nothing fancy, but effective.

7 Strategies to Choosing an Effective Domain Name
Monday 23 June 2008 @ 5:16 am

A friend of mine calls me the “Domain Queen”, since at one time I owned around 50 domains. I’ve let many of them go (I own only 22 now) as my business has changed and developed, or I’ve just simply lost interest in the project. I’m often asked how I go about picking effective domain names, so as the “Domain Queen”, I’ll share my thought process with you.

1.What’s the purpose of the domain name? Are you planning on using this name as the main website for your company, as a one page sales letter site, or squeeze page site? If the domain name will be your primary company website, try and find the closest version to your company name that you can. If you’re just starting out, choose your business name and domain name with care. When I started my virtual assistant practice, I chose the name SOHO Business Solutions, as I thought everyone knew that SOHO stood for Small Office, Home Office. I think I’ve run into 2 people in my 7 years in business who knew what that acronym stood for. If I had it to do over again for this business, I would choose a business name and domain name with virtual assistant in the title, like InternetMarketingVirtualAssistant.com, a name I just recently purchased.

If the purpose of a domain is for a one-page sales letter site or a squeeze page, think ahead as to how you might promote this site. Because content is king in today’s internet marketing world, there’s little chance that either of these types of sites would be picked up by the search engines on key words. Therefore, your best promotion strategy is PPC, or “pay per click”, where you’re buying keywords for placement in search engines. If you’re buying keywords from Google, for example, the paid listings appear at the top of a search in a blue box, or down the right-hand side of your screen. You want to be sure that the info displayed there is compelling enough to get someone to click and visit your site. So, for example, I’ve created a squeeze page, GetMoreClientsOnline.com, which has a compelling solution to a common problem that my clients have, as a side door gateway to my OnlineBizCoachingCompany.com coaching website.

2. Brainstorm a list of ideas of the problem you’re trying to solve or the solution that you have. A domain name that clearly indicates what you do, or a problem that you solve, or a solution that you have to a problem will give a visitor a fairly clear picture of what s/he’ll find on your website. What I typically do is go to my domain registrar, www.UltraNetDomains.com, and just start plugging in the names I’m brainstorming until I come up with 3 or 4 that are available. If the domain name that you type in isn’t available, the service will come up with 10 or so alternates for you to consider. I found this alternate listing quite helpful recently in picking the name of an article directory site that I want to create.

3. For SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes, it helps to have your keywords in your domain name. Marla Regan, who’s a professional organizer, has put two keywords in her domain name, OrganizedTime.com. Retirement Coach Lin Schreiber has her keyword niche in her domain, RevolutionizeRetirement.com. Consultant John Reddish has the desired outcome keywords in his domain, GetResults.com. I own a domain that I haven’t yet developed for house sitters, BecomeAHouseSitter.com. Before buying your domain, make a list of keywords that someone might use to find you online. This list could include your industry, your target market or niche, a problem your target market has, or a solution that you can offer.

4. Shorter is better, if it’s to be your primary domain. I haven’t always followed my own rules here, as I tend to have business names that are quite lengthy. If the domain name is going to be your primary domain where your primary email address will be housed, you want your domain name to be as short, catchy, and memorable as possible. After a few times of spelling out your lengthy email address, you’ll come to appreciate the beauty of a short domain name. Your domain name can contain up to 67 letters and numbers, although I would encourage you not to have one of this length, and can contain no special characters other than hyphens.

5. Purchase your your given name as a domain name. I typically tell my clients not to try and brand their given name as their business name, as that takes many years, much money, and lots of hard work to have the name recognition of Oprah, for example. However, it still pays to purchase your given name as a domain name, as well as any common misspellings of your name. Many people think my name is Donna Gunther, with an “h” in the last name, but I’ve been unable to register that common misspelling of my name, as a photographer in Venice, CA, has owned in since 2000. Once you’ve purchased your name as a domain, you can redirect it to your primary website. This means that when someone types in a domain, they land at the website to which you pointed that domain. So, currently DonnaGunter.com redirects to OnlineBizCoachingCompany.com because I don’t want to use my name as a website, although that might change in the future.

6. Buy the .COM version of the name if it is available. When people hear a domain name, they “hear” .COM whether it’s .NET or .BIZ or .ORG or whatever. So, it pays to find a domain name that you like that is part of the .COM family. If you just can’t get the name you want, try a hyphenated version of the .COM name. For example, when I was seeking a domain name for my Self-Employment Coaching Gym, I really wanted SelfEmploymentSuccess.com, but it wasn’t available. However, Self-Employment-Success.com was available, so I grabbed that. Many SEO specialists state that search engines like hyphenated names, and many online business owners use hyphenated keywords in their domain names to be more attractive to search engines. I don’t have a clear answer as to the validity of this theory, so I just advocate going this route before having to resort to the .NET or .BIZ of the name you desire. Some domain name holders may be willing to sell you the domain name that you want. You can find out who owns a domain name by checking the WhoIs Registry at Internic, http://www.internic.net/whois.html. For info about country codes (two-letter) top-level domains (.UK or .CA, for example) visit http://www.uwhois.com/cgi/domains.cgi?User=NoAds

7. Consider owning other versions of your primary domain name. If you are registering the .COM version of a domain for your business, you may also want to secure variations of the name, alternate spellings, common misspellings, and the .NET and .ORG versions of your domain and repoint them to your main site to keep them out of the hands of your competitors. You can also go broke very quickly by purchasing all of these variations, so exercise some restraint in your purchases and don’t go crazy with purchasing every single variation of your domain name. For my coaching company site, I own both the OnlineBizCoachingCompany.com and OnlineBusinessCoachingCompany.com and decided that was good enough.

Your domain name is the beginning of the establishment of your presence online, Take some time and put some thought into the process so that the domain name serves you well in the years to come, and is an effective tool for helping you get more clients online.

Hurricanes and Blogging
Friday 20 June 2008 @ 10:01 pm

If you are Blogger and you wish to increase traffic into readership and visitors to your website then it is smart to talk about the weather specifically the major category hurricane named storms. During the 2005 Atlantic tropical hurricane season; we had Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Wilma into these were among the top searched words on Google from August 2005 to be December 2005.

It is interesting that people are always joking about others talking about the weather and just think if you talk about the weather on your Blog, you will totally increase traffic on your web site. What kinds of things do people like to read about on a Blog during hurricane season?

People are looking for alternative news stories and events, which are not in the mainstream media but are of public interest. You may also find people who either live in the devastated or destroyed region from a major tropical category hurricane or catastrophic tropical storm, which flooded their area, who are willing to tell their stories on your Blog.

This firsthand knowledge will help drive traffic to your web site and it is a public service to the citizens to know what is really going on from real people who are really involved. Please consider this in 2006.

Understanding the Italian Language
Friday 20 June 2008 @ 12:19 am

Brief History of the Italian Language

Documents dating as far back as the 10th century were written in Italian, although it is believed that some form of Italian language was used in the 8th century by people who did not understand Latin. Traders and clergy might have used this language to address the people of those days.

The Italian language has evolved into many different dialects and languages throughout the centuries due to differences in politics, lack of communications and mobility, and also various culture gaps as people of different origins migrated to Italy.

Differences in Dialects

There is a standard Italian language, which is taught in schools of all regions. The standard language was derived from Medieval Tuscan dialect. The dialects each have their own characteristics so even tourists can tell a difference when visiting more than one region.

The Neapolitan dialect, for example, is often used in popular songs. This language is called Napoletano. Speakers of this language change articles into single vowels. “Il” might be shortened to ‘O. The Roman dialect called Romanesco is where the speaker replaces the letter “l” with the “r” sound. Toscana is a dialect used by the Tuscans where the letter “c” is often pronounced as “ch” combined.

Rare Italian Dialects

In remote areas of Italy there are rare dialects that are in danger of extinction. These often combine two languages or several dialects to form their own distinct language.

The Judeo-Italian dialect is called Italkian. It is a minority language that was spoken by people living in urban areas of Rome or in central and northern Italy between the 10th and 17th centuries. The language was very popular in Livorno. It’s a blend of Italian and Hebrew, and only around 4,000 people actually use it as their primary language today.

Yiddish is another rare language that blends Hebrew and German. Ladino is a language that blends Spanish and Hebrew.

Jews who Speak Italian

At the beginning of the 20th century, Jews in Italy were fluent with their own language as well as standard Italian. They also had a dialect called Judeo-Italian, which differed by region and city. Judeo-Italian dialects were often used in Jewish rituals and the Passover Haggadah, and they were also written in Hebrew.

Italian Language for the Traveller

Travellers to Italy will benefit tremendously if they learn key Italian words and phrases before their trip. Eating at restaurants, visiting attractions or villages, and touring local sites will be much easier for the tourist who knows what to ask and how to ask in Italian! Courses to help learn Italian phrases as well as culture and traditions in various regions are available online.

Just like any other nation, the dialect one hears will depend on where he visits. The language and dialects make each area unique, and tourists can discover something new everywhere they go in Italy.

Where can find international cell phones and service for Italy in the USA? From http://www.planetomni.com Free incoming calls from all countries night and day and calling the states is just US $.60 per minute! They rent and sell phones and satellite phones as well and ship to you everything you need before you leave. They have service for more than 160 countries of the world’s 193 countries and they ship worldwide.

I have witnessed the ruinous effects of Socialism /Communism /Dictatorship in dozens of countries and today enjoy the remains of our freedoms and protections of the Constitution in the USA here in California.
Working in front of and behind the camera films around the world we removed to the suburbs and a quiet life, for a few years. We still have property in Umbria, Italy, some is for sale. After all is said and done I count my children, wife Jojo and my friends as my only real treasure.

How To Buy Dress Shirts For Tall Men?
Monday 16 June 2008 @ 1:28 am

Outfitting Matthew Tullis used to be a tall order.

At 6 foot 7 inches tall, he frequented the big and tall dress shirt departments of local retailers in West Jordan, Utah, just outside of Salt Lake City. But even when the size seemed right, the look was all wrong.

“I’d go to Nordstrom’s or some other store and tell the clerk my neck size and sleeve length, 16 and a half neck and 37 sleeve, and I’d always have trouble with the shirt. I’m a thin person, and the shirts weren’t made for people like me, so either the sleeves were too short or the neck was too big. And the shirt was always baggy in the body. I began to think that bad fit was just par for the course,” shrugs Matthew. “It got to the point where I really didn’t care. I wasn’t very picky.”

As a church leader and a father of three, though, Matthew felt an increasing need to ensure his appearance matched his growing responsibilities.

“I’ve never been very worried about what other people think, but in this case it came down to something bigger than me; my religion. When it had to do with my church calling, I felt it was important to look my best and to set a good example,” explains Matthew.

Desperate for a better answer, he turned to the Internet. Somewhere out there, he reasoned, had to be well-priced, good looking shirts for big and tall men who were more tall than big. The option of custom-made clothing never occurred to him. It sounded too expensive and difficult.

When he stumbled upon Best Custom Shirt, the made-to-order option seemed so affordable it was almost too good to be true.

“I think the terms I put in the search engine were something like, ‘cheapest, nicest dress shirt’ or something similar. I don’t remember how many links it returned, but one of them was Best Custom Shirt. When l looked it at the site, I thought the prices were really good. So I immediately compared them against five other online stores that had big and tall men’s shirts,” says Matthew.

Matthew shared the news with his wife, who did her own online comparison shopping. The result, says Matthew, was that she was happy, too.

“She enjoyed the fact that she didn’t have to go buy them. And when she looked at the price, she thought I should go ahead and do it. Frankly, at that point I was sick and tired of spending so much time comparing everything. I figured I would just order the shirts and see what happened,” recalls Matthew.

Matthew’s first custom shirt arrived within days. He enjoyed the look and feel, but still wasn’t totally satisfied with the fit. So he called a customer service expert and described the problem.

“I told him this was my first custom-made shirt and it seemed to pull across the back when I touched my elbows together in front. I didn’t know how much more space it needed, but they put me in touch with Janine and she told me how she thought the shirt could be changed. She also talked to me about some of the other little things I might like,” says Matthew.

New York Designer Janine Giorgenti, owner of Best Custom Shirt. Com, spent time helping Matthew define his own preferences, tastes he was previously unaware of. Working together, they pinned down the particular look Matthew sought for his shirt’s collar and buttons.

Ten days after Matthew’s initial Internet foray, he was the proud owner of four handsome, well-made, crisp white shirts - precision-tailored to his proportions. These big-and-tall men’s dress shirts were big on style, but, even better, these were the first shirts he worn that genuinely fit his frame. Suddenly, all the little discomforts he’d taken for granted with standard men’s dress shirts vanished. No longer did he have to contend with a baggy chest, too- short sleeves or ugly collars that just didn’t lay right.

“Now, if I raise my hands right above my head, the shirt doesn’t pull, so I’m glad about that. And some of the other options, like a collar without any buttons, made me really happy,” says Matthew.

He credits extraordinary customer service for his extraordinary results.

“The people I dealt with were very good, very nice, and very easy to work with,” smiles Matthew.

He now feels the shirts help him to do his best work. When he presides over church group meetings, he looks and feels like the leader and role model he is. He never has to worry whether his polished appearance will disappear when he takes his jacket off.

Now that he’s a made-to-order shirt fan, Matthew ready to take on another challenge: color.

“This time, I just wanted white shirts. Now that I have all the white shirts I need, I’d like to add some cool colors. I love blue and may even want to get a maroon shirt. And I’m thinking about custom-made slacks, too,” remarks Matthew.

The ease of caring for his custom shirts makes them all the more appealing. Matthew finds the garments look just as good after machine washing as when they first arrived. His over-the-counter dress shirts never stood up as well.

As a newly-savvy shirt buyer, Matthew intends to approach garment purchases with a more exacting eye. He also plans to apply the same high standards to dress-up clothing for his three sons; six-year-old Landan, three-year-old Dalin, and Alex, who’s just a year old. All, he laughs, are destined to inherit their father’s hard-to-fit stature and build.

“They’ll be big and tall like me,” smiles Matthew. “I like to look good and I’m sure they’ll want to look good, too…in shirts that really fit.”
